President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has nominated 4 new nationwide commissioners and two new resident electoral commissioners to fill vacancies on the Unbiased Nationwide Electoral Fee created by way of expiring tenures.
The Senate will scrutinise the entire nominees.
Alternatively, the President reappointed Dr Bala Bila, the nationwide commissioner representing the North East.
The brand new nationwide commissioners are Professor Mustapha Aliu, who will substitute Professor Abdullahi Zuru because the North West consultant; and Bashir Muhammed Umar, who will substitute Professor Muhammad Adamu because the North Central consultant.
President Tinubu really useful Mrs Oluwatoyin Babalola, the resident electoral commissioner in Osun, as the brand new South West nationwide commissioner. She is going to substitute Professor Cornelius Ajayi, whose tenure expires on October 24.
The 2 new resident electoral commissioners are retired everlasting secretary Dr Samuel Akinjide Akinleye, to constitute Ekiti State, and Zahradden Basiru Sanusi, from Jigawa, who will substitute Professor Saidu Ahmed Babura.
President Tinubu advised the Senate to expedite the nominees’ affirmation in view of the imminent Common elections subsequent January.
