President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has nominated 4 new nationwide commissioners and two new resident electoral commissioners to fill vacancies on the Unbiased Nationwide Electoral Fee created via expiring tenures.
In step with a remark via presidential spokesman, Bayo Onanuga on Friday, the Senate will scrutinise the entire nominees.
Alternatively, the President reappointed Dr Bala Bila, the nationwide commissioner representing the North East.
The brand new nationwide commissioners are Professor Mustapha Aliu, who will substitute Professor Abdullahi Zuru because the North West consultant; and Bashir Muhammed Umar, who will substitute Professor Muhammad Adamu because the North Central consultant.
President Tinubu advisable Mrs Oluwatoyin Babalola, the resident electoral commissioner in Osun, as the brand new South West nationwide commissioner. She is going to substitute Professor Cornelius Ajayi, whose tenure expires on October 24.
The 2 new resident electoral commissioners are retired everlasting secretary Dr Samuel Akinjide Akinleye, to constitute Ekiti State, and Zahradden Basiru Sanusi, from Jigawa, who will substitute Professor Saidu Ahmed Babura.
President Tinubu instructed the Senate to expedite the nominees’ affirmation in view of the impending Normal elections subsequent January.
